Liam's Law

What is Liam’s Law?

Liam’s Law updates Illinois’ 2003 stillbirth certificate legislation to improve recognition, support, and standards of care for families who experience stillbirth. Named after Liam, a baby who died and was stillborn at 40 weeks in 2016, the law addresses gaps in communication, record-keeping, and respectful maternity care practices.

Liam's Law Applies to Stillbirths.
Stillbirth is when a baby dies before birth and after at least 20 weeks, 0 days of pregnancy).
